Active Roster:

The roster limit will be 20 (18 Players for 12 Team League) players maximum.  During the regular season, you must be able to field a complete starting lineup and cannot have less than 14 (12 Players Min for a 12 Team League) players.  The only exception will be during the off-season free agency auction periods, which you are not required to  maintain the minimum requirements. Also, this does not include the initial auction in which a full roster of 20 (18 Players for 12 Team League) is required.

First Year - Initial Start up Auction/Free Agency:

First Year Auction

  • Owners will participate in an auction draft to build their rosters in year 1.

  • This auction will have proxy bidding.

  • Owners must pay special attention not to exceed their salary cap ($500).

  • The auction draft will be conducted when the league is filled.

  • The initial auction in year 1 will include rookies for that year. A rookie draft will not be conducted in year 1.

  • Owners are required to fill their 20 man active roster spots during the initial auction draft.

  • At the beginning of the auction, each owner must nominate two players. The opening bid can be as low as $1. After your                      nominations, you are encouraged to raise bid on other players. However,

  • You may NOT raise your own bids unless another team bids on it first.

  • A player is won when an owner holds a high bid for 12 hours.

  • After winning a player, you must place an opening bid on another player before raising other bids.  This will keep the draft moving.

  • Players won during the auction cannot be waived or traded until the auction is complete.

  • Owners have until 10 days after the auction has concluded (official date to be posted on message board) to declare players contracts terms. These contracts must be posted on the league message board.

  • The commissioner can, at his discretion, submit players into auction if the number of outstanding bids begins to fall.  In those              situations, he will try and put players out that, based on last year's fantasy stats are among the highest scoring players that still        remain free agents.

  • The commissioner also reserves the rights to adjust the nomination process, for the sake of regulating the audit tempo.

  • When the team has filled their roster, they are unable to submit any further nominations. When all teams have filled their rosters,     the auction is complete. At the final stages of the auction, the commissioner will likely ask that all remaining teams in the auction     increase the number of players for bid, so that the auction can be completed in a timely fashion.

Initial Start up Auction/Free Agency:

  • First Year Live Auction (Live auction leagues only)

  • Owners will participate in an auction draft to build their rosters in year 1.

  • Owners must pay special attention not to exceed their salary cap ($500).

  • The auction draft will be conducted when the league is filled.

  • The initial auction in year 1 will include rookies for that year. A rookie draft will not be conducted in year 1.

  • Owners are required to fill their 20 (18 Players for a 12 Man League) man active roster spots during the initial auction draft.

  • Each team will get a chance to nominate a player for auction. The nominations will be based off the franchise order.

  • Each auction will last 20 seconds. Each time the high bidder changes the 20 seconds clock resets. The highest bid after 20 secs win    the auction.

  • Players won during the auction cannot be waived or traded until the auction is complete.

  • There are 10 seconds between winning a player and making a nomination. If the next team up doesn't not place a nomination, the      system will pick automatically the highest ranking player.

  • Owners have until 2 days after the auction has concluded (official date to be posted on message board) to declare players contracts       terms. These contracts must be posted on the league message board.

  • When all teams have filled their rosters, the auction is complete.

  • Please see MFL site for any specific information regarding the Live Auction Module.

First Year Free Agency:

There will be a free agent auction in august at a date to be determined. For more details, see the "free agency (off-season)" article below.

Salary Cap & Contracts:

Salary:

  • Each team has a salary cap of $500 to manage.  This figure is locked and will NOT increase annually.

  • Salary cap dollars/space are non-transferable. For example, you are not allowed to trade a player and $20 of salary cap dollar.space.

  • Player's salaries will be determined by the owners via auction, blind bidding and or free agency. The only exceptions are rookies.

  • Incoming rookies will have a fixed wager scale (starting year 2 when we have the rookie draft).  See Rookie Draft section for complete breakdown.

  • Any player released from a team will have his contract voided.  His new salary will be determined when he is won at auction or blind bidding.

  • Players on the active roster will count 100% against the cap.

Raises:

  • Annual increases - any player that is on an active roster will get a 5% raise in salary every year on or about February 7th.

Contract:

  • Each team has a 40 (35 for a 12 Team League) year contract cap to manage. This figure is locked and will not increase annually.

  • Contract years run from the day they are assigned until the following year. On/or about February 7th marks the beginning of the next

  • year or expiration of the contract.

  • The lengths of the individual contracts are between 1 year and 4 years max.

  • All players contracts need to be announced by date(s) designated by commissioner and be placed on the league message board. As    you will see below, salary cap penalties occur when you cut a player UNDER CONTRACT.

  • Once a contract deadline passes, any player on your roster that you fail to assign a contract to, will be on a 1 year contract.

  • Owners trading players will recoup the entire value of their contract.

  • Owners trading for another player during the course of the season must take on the new player’s contract and simultaneously meet     the cap requirements.

Salary Cap Hits:

Regular Season/Off-season:

  • 25% Penalty during both the regular season and off-season.

  • If the length of the contract is 1 year, the penalty would be removed at the end of the season (February).

  • If the length of the contract is 2 year, the penalty would be removed at the end of the 2nd year.

  • If the length of the contract is 3 year, the penalty would be removed at the end of the 3rd year.

  • If the length of the contract is 4 year, the penalty would be removed at the end of the 4th year.

Unrestricted Free Agents:

Any player whose contract has expired and is not rostered by a franchise is considered an unrestricted free agent.

Free Agency (Off-Season):

  • The free agent auction will be on/or about August 15th annually after the conclusion of the first season.  The FA auction will run the same as the initial auction with the following exceptions:

  • Any players on an owner's roster before an auction can be released prior to the auction in an attempt to resign them at a lower          salary. The owner is also allowed to nominate the same player(s).  Players dropped with contracts are subject to the standard cap      penalty.  Once the auction starts, the rosters are locked.

  • Owners are only required to open on one player.

  • Once a player is won in the free agent auction their contract must be posted on the league message board 10 days after the      auction concludes.

  • The initial free agent off-season auction (occurs before inaugural season) will be completed at least 24 hours prior to the kick-off of      the first regular season NFL game.

Regular Season Free Agency:

We will use a blind bidding system for waivers during the regular season which will run after kickoff of week 1 to kickoff of the first game in week 13 (see league calendar for details).  Unlike auctions, you may alter/retract blind bids any time up to the deadline.

  • Bids should be placed on the MFL site using the waiver option.  All contracts won during the blind bidding will get 1 year contracts.

  • You will have the following window to submit bids: 1pm ET Sunday to 9pm ET Wednesday & Thursday 8pm ET to Saturday 9pm ET.

  • Blind Bid Waivers will be processed automatically by the system on Wednesday 9pm ET.

All winning bids will count against your salary cap.  Any free agents won during the regular season blind bidding will automatically get 1 year contracts.  Any incomplete waiver claims will not be processed. Any player dropped prior to the blind bidding deadline will be locked until the following bidding opportunity. Any players dropped by a team cannot be bid on by that same team within 14 days of being dropped.

Extending players:

We are adding the ability to extend 2 contracts that were picked up during blind bidding waivers during the season. Since all contracts that are picked up during blind bidding waivers get 1 year contracts, at the end of the season you will get an option to extend 2 players contracts for 1 more year.  This only relates to players picked up during blind bidding during the season. This is not an option for players picked up during free agent off-season auctions. After the free agent auctions, teams will be able to assign contract terms (1-4 years) on those players so they are not eligible to be extended.

Trades:

  • Trading is allowed from the end of the NFL season (after superbowl) until the kickoff of week #11. Exact dates to be determined    each year.

  • All trades must be approved by the commissioner.

  • Teams must make sure to stay in salary & contract compliance.

  • Draft picks are eligible for trading. Future draft picks require league entry fees before trades will be accepted.

  • Any future draft picks that are traded, require the next season fees paid in full before the trade is approved.

Season Schedule & Playoffs:
Regular Season: The regular season schedule will run from week 1 to week 13 of the NFL season, featuring head to head competition.  Teams will face division opponents twice during the regular season and all non-division teams once.  There will be 5 double headers played in non bye weeks.

Playoffs: 6 teams will make the playoffs with the team with the two best overall records receiving a bye (Top 4 division winners and then the top 2 wild card teams. Brackets are grouped after each round with the highest seed (e.g. #1) always facing the lowest remaining seed.

Tiebreakers:

Tiebreakers for division standings, division winners and playoff seeds are as follows:
      1. Best winning percentage.

      2. *Head to head record.

      3. Best "Breakdown" record. This is the "all play" record against everyone in the league.

      4. **Division record.

      5. Most points scored in the regular season. *In the event 3 or more teams are tied, there must be a definitive winner among them (i.e. Team A defeated both B & C).  If there is not a definitive winner, "breakdown" and then total points scored will be used to decide a tie. ** Division record can only be used among teams within the same division.

Blind bidding tiebreaker:

    1. Worst overall winning percentage.

    2. Lowest total points scored.

    3. Highest total points against.

    4. Lowest power ranking.

Rookie Draft:
Starting in our 2nd season, we will hold an annual rookie draft at 12 Noon ET, on or about May 15th. The team with the lowest winning percentage at the end of the regular season drafts first. The rest of the non playoff teams are placed in order from lowest winning percentage to the highest. In the event of a tie, the team with fewer total points scored selects first. The draft position of each team will be reverse of the previous regular season standings (week 1 - week 13) and maintain the same order each subsequent round. The league Champ will draft 16 and the runner-up will draft 15. If a playoff and non-playoff team end the season with the same winning percentage, the non-playoff team selects before the playoff team. The draft will consist of 2 rounds. Teams will not be required to clear roster space before draft. They will have 14 days following draft to determine their final roster. Any player who has entered that year’s NFL Rookie Draft or NFL Supplemental Draft is eligible for our rookie draft. Teams will have a 12 hour window to make a pick. If your time expires, you must email the commissioner ASAP and give him your selection. If the player is still available, the commissioner will make the selection for you.

The following chart is the pay scale for incoming rookies:

League 16 Teams:

    Round 1   Pick 1 - $30    Picks 2-4 - $25   Picks 5-8 - $20   Picks 9-16 - $15
    Round 2   Picks 17-24 - $10   Picks 25-32 - $5

League 12 Teams

    Round 1   Pick 1 - $30    Picks 2-4 - $25   Picks 5-8 - $20   Picks 9-12 - $15
    Round 2   Picks 13-18 - $10   Picks 19-24 - $5

The remaining rookie draft would be conducted as a rookie/free agent auction draft starting on or about August 15th.

Player Position Eligibility: We will go by the position MFL has designated each year. Any objections can be brought to the commissioner’s attention and may be put to a league vote.

Player Retirement/Death Clause:
In the event a player retires or passes away, the owner will be able to release that player with no penalties of any kind.

NFL Strike Clause: In the event of an NFL strike or general labor stoppage, the season will be canceled and all entry fees will be refunded, excluding deposits which will be pushed to the following season (less any expenses already incurred to host the league). If over 70% of a season is lost due to a strike, player’s contracts will not decrease by one year, but there will be the standard player salary increases at year-end.

Strange Play Ruling: This section will address odd/impossible plays that always seem to happen. It is the responsibility of owners to bring these types of plays to the attention of the commissioner in a timely manner. Plays that happened in week 3 when we are in week 5 will not be reviewed. Players WILL NOT get credit for throwing a TD pass to themselves (Brad Johnson Rule). They WILL get credit for the play as if they are a WR. So in other words, he would get the receiving yardage, TD reception (6pts) and .5 for the catch.

All prizes won are paid at the end of the season. Prize money is shipped via the U.S. Postal Service by January 31st of each year. Please allow up to 10 days for delivery. Any winnings can be applied to your team entry fee for the following season. Team balances are available at any time upon request. Abandoned Teams: BeMyCommish run teams are not eligible to win any prize money. BeMyCommish run teams are not dead teams. BeMyCommish run teams function like any other team. Lineups and waivers will be submitted. You may trade with BeMyCommish run teams.

Conduct: Conduct that is deemed detrimental to the league or to the BeMyCommish will not be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to, posts and or emails that are harassing in nature and serve no legitimate purpose other than to cause discord within the league or the BeMyCommish organization. There is a difference between expressing viewpoints or likes/dislikes of a league or format and personal attacks toward fellow owners or the commissioner. Also, vulgarity in emails or on the message board will not be tolerated.

Each owner is expected to participate year-round and exhibit good sportsmanship towards one another. Tanking, collusion, throwing games, team abandonment and other conduct determined detrimental to the league and its members may bring the possibility of expulsion. Any member expelled will forfeit any fees already paid. In the event someone is removed from the league, the commissioner will do his best to find a replacement. If unable to find one during the season, weekly lineups will follow a best ball format for the un-owned team (Best ball is when the starting lineup is determined by the weekly highest scoring players per position each week, i.e. the highest scoring QB that week would be considered the starter.) Also, the Commissioner has the right to change the lineup if deemed that the intention was to throw a game with the best projected points for that week.

Failure to comply may result in IMMEDIATE EXPULSION WITHOUT REFUND. In addition, attempts to negatively impact the integrity of the league (i.e. threatening or outright refusal to submit lineups, partaking in bogus trades, disruption of a live draft etc.) will result in an immediate expulsion, without refund, from BeMyCommish.
